On Saturday 12th October at 7:30pm, there is a concert by the Laurence Singers entitled ‘A Night of Knights’. In the second half, the choir is celebrating the recent knighthood awarded to John Rutter, one of the most popular living British composers, with a wide range of his musical styles. The first half has music by another knight, Sr Edward Elgar. It is a short piece of six songs entitles ‘Songs from the Bavaraian Highlands’, containing quite delightful musical settings by Elgar of his wife’s poems. The choir’s gifted accompanist, Lauren, will be playing a wonderful piano solo to end the first half.
Tickets, £12 including interval refreshments, will be available from Steve Wood and Cliff Crewe in September.
