Here you will find news and information about St Mark’s URC in Wythenshawe.
Wythenshawe is a large housing estate in South Manchester where St Mark’s URC serves the area known as Woodhouse Park. Although Manchester Airport is nearby, Woodhouse Park has all the characteristics of an “urban priority area”, and the life of the worshipping congregation is an important community focus for hope and renewal. On the same site as the church are the former manse, which served as a residential home for the elderly until it closed in 2010, and a family centre with a secure play area. The church currently shares its buildings with the Tree of Life project, which includes a furniture shop, community café, and contact group for children of separated parents. St Mark’s is currently exploring a new vision for its work within the community from its existing site. Wilmslow URC regularly provides second hand furniture, management skills, help for the contact centre, financial assistance and musicians for the worshipping life of the church.
